Unit 7: Winning at the
Job Interview
Persuading them to put you into their team
The preferred methodology for this unit is to work through the notes encouraging discussion.
As in Unit 3: Winning Résumés, there are some group activities in this unit designed to enhance the learning experience through participants discussing issues and learning from each other. Allow students to spend plenty of time preparing answers to likely interview questions both in the whole group and in pairs. Allow them to share their answers with the whole group to get wide feedback and cross-pollination of ideas.
When the participants are ready, run a mock-interview program preferably with a video-camera set up. Seek constructive feedback from all participants both immediately after each mock interview and again after replaying the video. In this way, each performance becomes a learning experience for all participants. Let the participants who are watching the mock interview use Interview Evaluation Sheets to make their notes.
