Unit 2: Planning Your Career Path
It is almost impossible to be successful in the job search without a clear idea of the type of job to be sought. This unit provides a number of low-tech activities and questionnaires which have proved useful in helping job seekers identify the best career path.
However, low-tech instruments on their own are unlikely to produce results as reliable as those from well researched, scientifically designed instruments such as JIIG-CAL’s Career Voyage and the unit is designed to accommodate the results of such instruments.
Human interaction is encouraged. It is important that job seekers are individually counselled after completing the interests activity and then again when all 5 questionnaires/activities have been done so as to ensure that what students have written truly reflects their desired future.
Estimated Time Required: 3-5 hours
Learner Outcomes:
explain the relationship between job satisfaction and success
identify the career direction most likely to provide job satisfaction and success
make and explain your career action plan and the reasons behind your choices
